On February 21 2023, the DOE flagged off the 2023 SAM programme with the theme, “Digital and Soft skills”. SAM is a senate-approved entrepreneurship program which stands for Skills Acquisition Month and it is for all GOUNi students up to their penultimate year. This year’s SAM will be facilitated online by the West African Broadcast & Media Academy and the goal is to equip our students with 21st-century digital and powerful skills that would help them become self-employed and boost their employability status upon graduation.
Specifically, our students will be trained in over 30 courses including, cyber security, media law, affiliate marketing, graphic design, video editing, web design and online radio.
The Directorate of Entrepreneurship will give automatic job opportunities to students who emerge best in their various domains after the training. If this programme is successful, Godfrey Okoye University will have 1/3 of its student population with employability skills.
