The Directorate of Entrepreneurship is happy to announce a significant milestone that reaffirms Godfrey Okoye University’s commitment to innovation, global partnership, and sustainable impact.

Our Director, Mr. Christopher Chidiebere Uwakwe, and Coordinator of the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion Sustainability (STEP S), recently represented both Nigeria and the University at the highly selective DAAD Global Symposium in Cape Town, South Africa (October 13–17, 2025). The symposium, themed “Global Responsibility Local Impact: Higher Education Partnerships for the SDGs,” provided a critical platform to showcase our progressive model.

At this high-level international gathering, our Directorate took on a leadership role that directly aligns with our core mission: Mr. Uwakwe served as Chair of the Working Group on “Innovation and Employment Shaping the Future Together.”

Alongside co-chair Prof. Elspeth Webster, we explored practical, scalable strategies for how universities can catalyze job creation and sustainable local development. The focus was squarely on building strategic, impactful partnerships between academia, business, and local communities—a model we champion daily at GOUNI.

The symposium was a prime opportunity to present the Directorate’s work as a successful case study in transforming educational ideas into tangible social and economic impact. We engaged in intense discussions on developing equitable partnerships and effectively scaling sustainable change.
As Mr. Uwakwe expressed upon his return:
“It was an honour to share Godfrey Okoye University’s story on a global stage and to demonstrate how higher education can drive real change when innovation meets purpose.”

This participation not only highlights our standing among global leaders in higher education but also reinforces our Directorate’s dedication to sustainable education, entrepreneurial development, and impactful community collaboration, ensuring our students are not just graduates, but job creators and innovators ready to shape Africa’s future.
