The Directorate of Entrepreneurship (DoE) at Godfrey Okoye University has officially launched the orientation workshop for the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion – Sustainability (STEP-S) program, a transformative initiative designed to equip undergraduates with essential entrepreneurial skills.

About the STEP-S Program

STEP-S is a collaborative international project funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), in partnership with universities from Germany, Kenya, and South Africa. The program aims to foster innovation, self-reliance, and sustainable business development among students.

Key Highlights from the Orientation

During the two-day orientation, Mr. Christopher Chidiebere Uwakwe, the Director of Entrepreneurship and STEP-S Project Coordinator for GOU, emphasized the program’s significance in shaping the future of young entrepreneurs. He highlighted that STEP-S is structured to:

  • ✔ Equip students with practical entrepreneurial knowledge and skills.
  • ✔ Build confidence in pursuing self-employment and business creation.
  • ✔ Foster a culture of innovation and sustainability among undergraduates.

The event recorded an impressive turnout of over 700 students from the Faculties of Arts, Law, Management, Natural and Applied Sciences, and Education, reflecting strong enthusiasm for entrepreneurial development.

Upcoming Activities on the STEP-S Project

The DoE is set to host the STEP-S Train-the-Trainer (TTT) workshop in July 2025, bringing together project partners for capacity-building sessions. Other planned activities include:

  • 📌 Recruitment of Research Assistants (July – August)
  • 📌 Full Program Rollout for Undergraduates (October – December)
