The Directorate of Entrepreneurship (DOE) at Godfrey Okoye University recently celebrated a major milestone as 488 undergraduate students successfully completed the 2025 Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP-S) Programme.

Empowering the Next Generation

During the graduation ceremony, the Director of the DOE, Mr. Christopher Chidiebere Uwakwe, joined the students to celebrate their hard work and official certification. This year’s cohort represents a diverse group of young innovators ready to contribute to the local and global economy.

To ensure these new entrepreneurs can transition from the classroom to the marketplace, the Directorate has announced a ₦6,000,000 (Six Million Naira) interest-free startup capital fund. This capital is designed to help students launch and manage their business ventures successfully without the burden of initial debt.

Institutional Support and Global Partnerships

The success of the STEP-S project is a result of robust internal support and international collaboration. The DOE extends its deepest gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the university’s principal officers for their consistent commitment to student vocational development.

Furthermore, the STEP-S project continues to thrive through active partnerships with prestigious global institutions:

  • Leuphana University, Germany
  • Mt. Kenya University, Kenya
  • University of Venda, South Africa

Funding and Sustainability

The STEP-S PROJECT is proudly funded by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). This funding ensures that Godfrey Okoye University remains at the forefront of entrepreneurial excellence, providing world-class training standards to its students.
